Machine features
A wide range of turning spindles with spindle bores from 32 to 42 mm with radial and axial runout down to <0.7 µm and speeds up to 8,000 rpm are available in combination with a wide range of clamping systems for powerful but also sensitive clamping of the workpiece on the milling cutter rotating in the center.
The Y-axes extend the machining range of the turning and milling center and also reduce the setup time for precise tool height adjustment, which can be done via the NC axes of the machine itself.
The Take5 turning and milling center can be automated either with Benzinger’s own loading and unloading equipment with the shortest workpiece change times or with separate robotic chambers. The addition of a bar feeder also enables complete bar processing.
Modern controls from Siemens with various programming options round off the overall turning and milling center package.
The HSK40 milling spindle with speeds of up to 30,000 rpm in combination with a 52-station tool changer is used on both the main and counter spindles of the turning and milling center.
While the milling spindle is being processed, another lathe spindle with a turret can be used. The turret with a VDI 25 shank size has 16 individually driven stations and can be optionally equipped with an additional Y axis.
The Take 5 turning and milling center offers the perfect combination of turning and milling in one machine.
To optimize setup times, a high-precision version of the turret interface is available for VDI 25 holders in the turning and milling center.
The reproducible repeat accuracy when inserting the tool holder is well below 0.01 mm.
This means that the tools in the holder can be measured externally and time-consuming re-setups in the turning and milling center are no longer necessary.
