Precision
In addition to precision, the innovative tool concept is designed for ease of use, external tool measurement and the shortest possible setup time.
The lathes are housed in tool blocks with five positions each.
Using a specially developed interface, these blocks can be installed and removed within seconds, guaranteeing a switching accuracy of < 0.01 mm.
Outside the lathe, new tools are inserted, measured and the coolant lines are adapted to the corresponding tool positions.
Ideally, this is done while the CNC lathe is still processing the current job.
A wide range of turning spindles with radial and axial runout is available.
Up to < 0.5 µm and speeds up to 15,000 rpm are available in combination with a wide range of clamping systems for sensitive workpiece clamping.
The Y-axes extend the range of applications of the machine in machining and also reduce setup times, as the tools can be calibrated via the NC axes of the table itself. Up to six milling spindles in combination with a CNC rotary axis provide a wide range of possibilities for machining complex workpieces.
All variants of the DOLittle series can be automated either with Benzinger's own loading and unloading devices with the shortest possible workpiece change times or with separate robots.
The addition of a bar feeder also enables complete bar machining.
Modern controls from Siemens and Fanuc with various programming options complete the overall package.
Versions B1, B2, B3 and B5
Version - B1 - Lathe
The linear tool system provides the highest stability and the shortest chip-to-chip time. In combination with the Y-axis, the tools are arranged in three rows one above the other. A hexagonal milling unit with CNC swivel axis (0° to 90°) is available for the driven tools. Alternatively, high-frequency spindles, grinding spindles, air turbines, etc. can be installed in the tool blocks.
Version - B2 - Lathe
The tool turret with 12 VDI-20 tool stations and optionally 6 controlled tool stations can be supplemented with additional linear tool blocks to combine the precision and variety of a linear structure with the flexibility of a tool turret. The advantages of the Y axis are fully utilized.
Version - B3 - Lathe
The DOLittle B3 lathe is equipped with a main spindle and a counter spindle for complete workpiece processing. Due to its design, the counter spindle inside the lathe can be moved in three directions (X/Y/Z) to transfer the workpiece to the main spindle. This allows precise shape and position tolerances from the first to the second side of the workpiece to be reliably maintained. Innovative tool blocks in combination with the Y-axis and the six-axis CNC rotary milling unit allow the machining of complex and high-precision components.
Version - B5 - Lathe
The lathe’s productivity can be doubled by using two parallel main spindles, each with its own separately controlled and programmed tool holder.
The combination of the Y axis with the tool blocks of the DOLittle lathe series is arranged in three rows one above the other, which allows the use of similar tools for a significant increase in runtime.
The integrated loading system, selected for each component, guarantees the shortest cycle time with maximum productivity.
This makes the DOLittle B5 CNC lathe a high-performance solution for the machining of repetitive parts.

DOLittle tool block for static tools
- Switching time <10 seconds
- Tool setting and measurement outside the lathe, thus parallel to the machining process
- Change accuracy < 0.01 mm
- 4 containers each ø25 mm and 1 x 10 mm (square)
- Hydraulic expansion sleeves for ø12 mm tool shanks, ER16 and ER11 collet holders as well as high-frequency spindles can be mounted in the diameter 25
- Internal coolant supply for all tools, high coolant pressure possible for individual tools
